Love it.

Your main bass could do with some sub though cus it presently sounds like a wide square wave top end.

For shits and giggles try adding a second synth that only does sub bass and have it play the same midi notes and/or automation, that way it will still sound like one instrument but with a bottom end.

Zodin responds:

Yeah :D indeed

Thank you for this great review
drops are lame and over used-- xD

This is just sublime, thank you so much for sharing.

steampianist responds:

your welcome and than you for giving it a listen

From the sound of it pitch shifting doesn't hurt a composition like this in the slightest, given that the drums and bassline are fairly minimalistic.

If anything it adds a ton of expression to otherwise basic elements, i love it.

Your track aside, allways produce what you enjoy yourself lest there be no joy to share :3

Theledge93 responds:

Im glad you like it man! and those are great words of encouragement. i guess i fell into this pattern of trying to fit my songs into the categories that newgrounds had offered (before renovations of course). Thank You!

Really awesome, great 80s sound you got going.

Reminds a lot of Humanoid Invasion by laserdance :3

Sounds quite good actually, like a pop song, maybe add a touch of compression to the main synth/bass to curb the volume and still keep that fat sound.

After that just come up with something to fill the next additional two minutes or so ; maybe throw in some vocals and i'd say you have a finished track.

Genraltweet responds:

Thank you kindly, sir!

I didn't know what to do for a melody and I can't sing at all or have anyone who could sing for a song :/ so I'm not quite sure how that'd work. But thanks for the review! It means a lot

Cool

This is pretty nice symphonic metal imo, could you perhaps be bothered to upload some loops of your chords/shreds? (I'd love to sample this)

I think with vocals added you've got yourself a winner, either that or get convince somebody to use this in a project cus it sounds really good.

Really love the sub bass kick you've got going, i think they're underrated in general.

That synth build up around the 0:26 mark is great, adds a lot of tension to the laidback beat bit psychedelic sounding.

The bassline throughout works well too, sounds like vintage gear imo.

Only thing odd to me is the 3:35 arp going from karftwerk sounding to, well something rather avant garde though after a second listening it makes sense for the final breakdown. (a nice ending btw, i could take a cue from that)

Overall, good stuff hope you keep at it :3

PainasaurusRex responds:

Thank you very much for your review, it is greatly appreciated :D

As for the arp, that's actually the bass switching two octaves, I did to put some emphasis on the first and third beat since I had the drums on the second and fourth beat. I just need some sound to fill in that section. I'll look into it though, see if there's anything I can do to make it sound more cohesive.

Sweet

Really well done, you might want to do something about your samples/instruments though they sound like they'd be more at home in industrial techno kinda harsh compared to your lead and piano.

Keep it up :3

lantaren responds:

I think that that I overdid the distortion on the kick a bit much, I would have to agree with you.... also they were a bit too loud at times compared to the piano and lead... I'll tone them down if I get to working on it again.... also, I used a pretty hard saw as a lead for the contrast value... it just had a lot of filter cutoff.... but thanks for the review :) this is what keeps me going.

Good stuff, loving the bitcrusher sounding thing you've got going.

Have you ever heard any of nav katze's work?

This rather reminds me of his vibe, be it less clubby sounding.

lazy-dave responds:

I haven't heard of them, I'll check them out tho! Thanks for the review wasn't expecting one so soon lol I'm glad you enjoyed it!

Nice

Quite good really, get a vocalist and take on the world i say.

Or put some pressure ellsewhere, think it'd make a nice background tune to some beat 'em up i imagine.

Jonah-B responds:

Thanks! I'm glad you liked it. One day I think it would be fun to work with a vocalist and really try to put together something awesome, but for now I'm just sticking to solo stuff and practicing. Thanks again!
